On 3 July 2016, Swedish Ministry of Environment has announced it is banning the use of bisphenol A (BPA) in epoxy resins in water pipe linings, from 1 September.

Researches show that BPA in epoxy resins in water pipe linings can be exposed to the drinking water, however, even low levels of BPA can adversely affect babies and children by damaging their reproductive systems and posing risks of cancer, obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

EU proposed to restrict thermal paper receipts under Annex XVII to REACH. A committee of member state officials on Wednesday backed a proposed EU ban on thermal paper containing bisphenol A (BPA) on 6 July. It is expected that the restriction will be published on the Official Journal of the European Union recently. C&K Testing advises businesses should control the addition of BPA during production process and keep abreast of these developments.
